We woke up at 1AM after the moon had set, bundled up and drove outside of the reach of most lights to stargaze. It was easily the best stargazing we have ever seen. The milky way was on full display and stars seemed to go on forever. We saw several shooting stars (Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, etc…) and Kayleigh and Mark tried to perfect the art of photographing the night sky without proper tripods.
After that spectacular interlude we continued our sleep until about 8am. Jen worked while Mark & Kayleigh showered, then we packed up, grabbed a quick bite and headed to the airport for a 2 hour flight to Melbourne, then connecting to Auckland, New Zealand. We got in about midnight, headed for our motel, and fell asleep quickly!
