Aquatics Center
Olympic Park
London
We're adjusting well to the time change. We got up on time and had breakfast in the hotel, then left for the park via our fast train. Our first event of the day was Swimming at the Aquatic Center. We had good seats in section 311 sitting next to the parents of Caitlin Leverenz, a member of the US Swim Team competing in the individual medley. We saw:

  • Womens 200M Freestyle
  • Mens 200M Butterfly
  • Womens 200M Individual Medley

The Mens 200M Butterfly featured Michael Phelps, who would go on to get an Olympic Silver Medal in the finals.

After the aquatics center, we went to check out NBC's "Today Show", sandwiched between the Basketball Arena and the Athletes Village. The usual suspects were in attendance, Matt, Al, Savannah and Natalie along with some special guests.

Visiting the set were the US Silver Medalists in Archery, the US Gold Medalists in Skeet Shooting as well as the US Synchronized Diving Silver Medalists Abby Johnston (from Upper Arlington, OH) and Kelci Bryant. We had the opportunity to talk to Abby and Kelci, and had the privilege to get up close and personal with their Silver Medals including touching them.

We visited the Mega Store within the Olympic Park, and were not very impressed with its offerings.

Next, we went to visit the Houses of Parliament, and showed Abbey the difference between a Parliamentary Democracy versus the US Presidential Democracy.

That evening we went to visit Harrods in Knightsbridge for a little shopping. It has really gone downhill with the new owners from Qatar took over.
